My career before photography was as a stand-up comic. I enjoyed the raucous laughter and the chasing of planes for tour dates, but most importantly I relished grasping for the exciting moments on stage when I could share with clarity, ideas and experiences with the audience members in front of me.

Through good fortune and hard work I was nominated for and won an American Comedy Award for Funniest Female Comic, this event ratcheted up my road work to thirty-five weeks out of the year. Through the constant traveling and promoting of shows I found myself meeting the most peculiar of people and witnessing the most unusual of visual circumstances.

Before long I bought a used camera and started documenting not only my travels, but also the comedy that was going on around me.
